Wladmilson Ramos Veiga

Background and achievements

Since arriving in Canada, Wladmilson Ramos Veiga has pursued a coaching career focused on athlete development, sustainable performance and the long-term progression of swimmers.

Throughout his career, he has coached athletes who achieved remarkable results on the provincial, national and international stages:

  • Coach of medal-winning athletes at the Quebec Provincial Championships.
  • Coach of medal-winning athletes at the Canadian National Age Group Championships.
  • Coach of athletes selected to represent Canada at the Junior Pan American Championships and the Junior World Open Water Championships.
  • Ongoing development of athletes who reached the provincial, national and international levels, contributing to the progress of Canadian swimming.

 

Before arriving in Canada, Wladmilson had an outstanding career in Brazil, marked by numerous individual and team successes:

  • More than 250 individual national and state records set by his athletes.
  • More than 350 individual champion titles at the national and state levels.
  • More than 900 medals won at the State and National Championships.
  • Gold and silver medals at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing (China).
  • Medal-winning athletes at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
  • Medal at the Junior World Open Water Championships.
  • Athletes taking part in the Olympic Games, the World Championships (pool and open water), the Junior World Championships, the Youth Olympic Games and the South American Championships.
  • National club champion several times in the adult, junior and youth categories.

 

Professional recognition

His work has also been recognized several times by Brazilian sport authorities:

  • Best Brazilian age-group coach four times.
  • Best Brazilian junior coach five times in a row (2012 to 2016), as well as in 2021.
  • Named best national adult coach in 2010 and 2021.
  • Coach of the Year at several major national competitions (2008, 2009, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022).
  • Champion coach at the Brazilian National Championships in various categories and years.

 

Beyond the results, Wladmilson also acts as a mentor coach for the teams he works with. He shares his expertise, supports coaches in their development and helps implement training processes focused on performance, the joy of swimming and athletes’ longevity in the sport.
